今回の熱海アートグラントで制作する作品の構想を練り始めた時に、一番最初に描いたスケッチです。このスケッチだけを見ても、構想の全体像はわかりませんが、実際に展示された作品と合わせて見ていただくことで、思考の仮定を一部だけ辿っていただくことができるかと思います。 Here is the initial sketch I started with when conceptualizing the artwork for this year's Atami Art Grant. 1996年生まれ。独学でスニーカーの製作技術を学び、シューズアーティストとして東京を拠点に活動。スニーカーの持つ記号性や身体性、意匠に強い関心をもち、それらを題材にした作品を制作。形状、機能、素材、製作手法、使用方法など、独自の視点でスニーカーを再解釈することで、社会的装置としてのスニーカーに内在する意味を問い直す。スニーカーを表現フレームとして追求する芸術運動「HYPER SOLE」を標榜している。 Born in 1996, Toda is a self-taught sneaker artist based in Tokyo. Toda utilizes his strong interest in the symbolism, physicality and design of sneakers as the subject matter for his work. By reinterpreting sneakers (their shape, function, material, creative techniques and how they are used) from his unique perspectives, Toda questions the meaning of the shoes as a social device. He advocates the artistic movement 'HYPER SOLE', which uses sneakers as a frame of expression.
